What this is
Trust Care provides structured knee and ACL rehabilitation in north Edmonton, both before and after surgical reconstruction, with return to sport decided by criteria-based strength and hop testing rather than by elapsed time.
Knee and ACL rehabilitation in north Edmonton
Trust Care provides structured rehabilitation for knee injuries, including anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries both before and after surgical reconstruction, as well as meniscus injuries, MCL sprains and patellofemoral pain.

Before surgery, if surgery is happening
Pre-operative rehabilitation matters more than most people expect. Going into an ACL reconstruction with a knee that straightens fully, has settled swelling and has reasonable quadriceps control is associated with a smoother recovery afterwards. If you have a surgery date, there is usually useful work to do before it.
After surgery, in phases
ACL rehabilitation is long, and the phases matter. Rushing one is the most common reason people end up with a knee that never feels trustworthy.
- Early phase: settle swelling, restore full knee extension, wake the quadriceps up
- Strength phase: build single-leg strength through the whole chain, not just the knee
- Power phase: reintroduce hopping, landing and change of direction under control
- Return to sport: criteria-based testing rather than a date on a calendar

Criteria, not calendars
Return to sport at Trust Care is decided on what the leg can actually do, measured against the other side, not on how many months have passed. That usually includes single-leg strength and hop testing and a look at landing mechanics. If the numbers are not there, the plan continues.

If surgery is not on the table
Not every ACL injury is reconstructed, and not every knee problem is an ACL. Many knee injuries are managed well without surgery through a loading programme. The assessment establishes which situation you are in before any plan is written.

Common questions
A few things people often ask before their first visit.
How long is ACL rehabilitation after surgery?
ACL rehabilitation typically runs nine to twelve months to a full return to pivoting sport, though the decision is made on strength and hop testing against the other leg rather than on elapsed time.
Should I do physiotherapy before ACL surgery?
Usually yes. Going into surgery with full knee extension, settled swelling and reasonable quadriceps control is associated with a smoother recovery afterwards.
Do all ACL injuries need surgery?
No. Many knee injuries, including some ACL injuries, are managed without surgery through a structured loading programme. The assessment establishes which situation applies before a plan is written.
